Google It! – The Evolution of Nihongo
Japanese Language Media Institute (Operated by JVTA)
Verbification, Abbreviation & Modernization
This lecture / Q&A will introduce and discuss the various ways in which the Japanese language is currently evolving with the times and keeping up with the need for recognition and brevity. In English, the verb Google first jumped into English around the year 2000 but there was a much more interesting path for the Japanese counterpart ググる that most people, even Japanese, have probably never heard of! Join Bill and Tyler to discuss, ponder and chat this August!
