Seminar Introduction:
In this follow-up to our very popular seminar on Japanese-to-English video game translation that took place earlier this year, we welcome back professional video game translator Devin Neel for a new, more in-depth look into the world of video game translation.This time, our seminar will go more in-depth into the video game translation process, focusing on names! Character names, place names, weapon names, names of special moves – names are everywhere in video games. What’s the process of translating them from Japanese to English? We’ll hear from Deven about his experience with translating names in games and what his translation approach looks like. デビン･ニール氏（日英ゲーム・アニメ翻訳者）

ゲームおよびアニメ翻訳を専門とするフリーランスの日英翻訳者。関西在住。多数のゲーム・アニメの翻訳実績があり、最近では『スターオーシャン 6 THE DIVINE FORCE』『ファンタシースターオンライン２』『ドラえもんのび太の牧場物語』、『ポッ拳』、『未来少年コナン』、『荒野のコトブキ飛行隊』、『ツルネ ―風舞高校弓道部―』、『宝石の国』などを担当。

Deven Neel (Freelance J-E translator)
Deven is a freelance Japanese to English translator specializing in video game and anime translation living in the Kansai countryside. He has extensive experience in translating numerous video game and anime titles, with recent translations including Star Ocean: The Divine Force, Phantasy Star Online 2, Doraemon Story of Seasons 1 & 2, Pokkén Tournament, Future Boy Conan, The Magnificent KOTOBUKI, Tsurune, Land of the Lustrous and more.

進行役：和田瑛里奈（JVTA)

アメリカ、ワシントン州出身。JVTAで日英映像翻訳コースを修了し、現在は日英翻訳者として映画やマンガの翻訳を手掛けている。またJVTAの日英映像翻訳コースのクラス担当として受講生サポートを行うほか、子供から大人までの幅広い層に日本語と英語を教える教師としても活動している。

Elina Wada（JVTA)
Born in Seattle, USA, Elina is both a graduate of JVTA’s Japanese-to-English Media Translation Course and currently a class coordinator for the same course. She is involved in teaching both Japanese and English to students young and old. Ever since her first run in with Japanese otaku culture as a child, she has adored everything about it and enjoys sharing the experience of translating this medium.
